22 - Utah, Chrissy Tiegen

Image
Sometimes the voice that means the most is the voice that can speak loudly for the people around them. Chrissy Tiegen is a beautiful woman. A beautiful woman that feels the same things you and I do. Utah is the 17th state to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment. Ms. Tiegen moved frequently in her youth following her father’s career as an electrician, including spending her high school in Snohomish County, neighbor to Seattle. As a cheerleader, she was found by a modeling agency and went to the top of the modeling world. Ms. Tiegen developed her voice through her career and ensured she did not fall to the image. She worked to achieve multiple spreads in Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions, including the cover of the 50th anniversary issue. Ms. Tiegen married John Legend, meeting on set for a music video. Together, they have a family of two bambinos. They speak openly about the struggles they had both in conceiving with in vitro technology, but in dealing with post partum depression

21 - New Hampshire, Mandy Moore

Image
Leader of one of my current favorite shows, Mandy Moore has worked for her music and acting career with strength for 20 years. She is a voice we all know, and regardless of ratings, always rises to the top! New Hampshire is the sixteenth state to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment on September 10, 1919. This is also exactly 1/3 of the way through my blog adventure!! Yay! Amanda Moore’s career spans a long list of albums and movie / television hits, where even among frequently mediocre reviews, her talents shined. Starting as a young teenage singer, she toured with the leading boy-bands *NSync and the Backstreet Boys. Her popularity grew, but the release of her first albums were not successful, even being cited by herself as failures. They were appropriate for the time in her life, but did not stand up to her desires or attributes. She turned to acting after ending her five year contract with Epic Records not feeling the artistic expression was her best work or growing. She acted al

20 - The Bill of Rights

Image
Understanding why and how we started to change our Constitution is interesting. It was a document meant to last forever, resisted change by the founding drafters, but acknowledged the power it had. The Bill of Rights was the first attempt to address concepts not clear in the Constitution. The first 10 Amendments are the Bill of Rights, and they were ratified on December 15, 1791. Following the adoption of the Constitution, the founding fathers were concerned with making changes to the document that may construe a re-evaluation of the Constitution. They asked each other how could they have written a document that needed to be amended within years? How could it stand for the testament of time if it was in error? James Madison was not an advocate for having the direct statements of freedoms and process directly into a document that needed to stand up to time. Each right proposed was intended to clarify or delineate the intentions of the constitution, and some may appear contradicto

19 - Minnesota, Lindsey Vonn

An Olympian in the truest sense. Driven from early in life and persevering through more than any person should. Lindsey Vonn. Minnesota was the fifteenth state to ratify the Nineteenth Amendment on September 18, 1919. Race skiing was a family event, and Ms. Vonn showed excellence at a young age, working up to international competition by the age of nine. The family moved to Vail, CO to support her training. By 15, she was known world wide winning multiple events and the only woman to win the Italian Torfeo Toppolino. “The following season [2005]was even more exciting, with Lindsey capturing her maiden World Cup race victory and attending her first World Championships. She racked up 13 top-five finishes in World Cup and World Championship events, standing on the podium six times and ending the season ranked sixth overall in the world,” says her website. Joining the Red Bull team in 2006, her career skyrocketed with her new coach and training. She succeeded in winning many award
